Frequently asked questions

Can I work in Germany without recognition?

It depends on the profession: REGULATED professions (medicine, nursing, teaching, law) require recognition. Non-regulated ones (most IT/business roles) do not — though a ZAB statement remains strong evidence.

I have no job offer — can I still go to Germany?

Yes — that is what the Opportunity Card is for: a points-based job-search permit. Meeting the base requirements plus 6 points allows up to 1 year of job seeking with up to 20 hours/week of work. Test your points in the calculator above.

What does the Ankara Agreement (ARB 1/80) give me?

Turkish workers in registered employment gain staged labour-market rights: renewal with the same employer after 1 year, employer change within the occupation after 3, free access after 4. It creates no residence title but strongly underpins work rights.

What is the ZAB statement for, and when should I get it?

The ZAB statement officially certifies how a foreign degree compares to a German one. For graduates in non-regulated professions it is strong evidence; apply early as processing times vary.
