1. 1. Find an Ausbildung position (company)

   You need an Ausbildung contract with a company. Search via the Bundesagentur für Arbeit job board and make-it-in-germany.

2. 2. Meet the language requirement (usually B1)

   An Ausbildung usually requires at least B1 German (varies by trade/company). Goethe/telc certificate is accepted.

3. 3. Prepare documents and school recognition

   Gather school certificates and obtain a recognition assessment and certified translation if needed.

4. 4. Apply for the Ausbildung visa (§16a)

   Book an appointment at the German mission for the vocational training visa (§16a Residence Act). The appointment is FREE.

5. 5. Submit application and give biometrics

   Submit the form and documents at the appointment and provide biometrics.
